Comics Mini Wrap Up!

Eros / Psyche by Maria Llovet

I so deeply wanted to enjoy this, but it fell flat for me. So much should have been expanded on, or given more detail to, and we failed to receive that. I felt like I got a half-written story with absolutely gorgeous art. And the art IS gorgeous, and that should definitely be noted. But as a cohesive story, it really misses the mark.

Beast Boy Loves Raven by Kami Garcia

Kami Garcia is back with another fantastic reimagining of the Teen Titans stories. Raven and Beast Boy’s coming together in this story was really fun to read, and I was excited to see how the two previous comics would merge together. Garcia didn’t disappoint with this one! The art style remains consistent and enjoyable from the previous graphic novels, and I am really grateful I got my hands on this one early. If you enjoyed the first two comics, you’ll really want to read this one. The way we’ve ended things makes me incredibly excited for the next stories in this tale, as well

Fly by Night by Tara O’Connor

This book has a lot of concepts and pieces that would make great stories. However, all of those pieces put together created a confusing and flat tale. The pieces were not fleshed out in a way that made it enjoyable. Additionally, I’m not sure if this is because it was an ARC, but the art felt unfinished. I’m fine with a lack of color, but the sketchiness of the comic was distracting from the story.
